2009 Concord ITU Duathlon Worlds

The 2009 Concord ITU Duathlon World Championships will take place in Concord, N.C. September 24-27, 2009.
The United States hosted the ITU Long Distance Duathlon World Championships in Richmond, Va., back in 2007 and is thrilled to be hosting a World Championship event once again.

No Canadian Duathlon Championships for 09?

I just heard from a second hand source that there will be no 2009 Canadian Duathlon Championships. Supposedly they didn't have a RD that wanted to host the event.
They will use a few other races to choose their worlds team.
Can anyone chime in and verify this? I looked at tricanada's site and couldn't find anything.
Sad indeed.

Looking for Ideas

Hi all in duathlon land.
I am looking for your input as to what you think will resurrect duathlon. Throw me some ideas at what you'd like to see at races. I have proposed a"National Parks Department Duathlon Series" held in some of the most scenic US Parks. Shorter distances and possibly culminating in a series championships? Think back to the Coors Light days but only the US Parks Dept as sponsor. Your thoughts?

Desert Classic Duathlon Sold Out!

Haven't seen this happen in a Duathlon in a looooong time. The age group divisions are sold out for February's Desert Classic Duathlon. There are still some elite/pro spots left and spots for juniors and kids. Hmmm......maybe short course worlds being here this year has something to do with it?

Most of the run course looks pretty butt ugly and the roads look kind of crappy. The bike course doesn't seem too bad. Watch out for crap on the road and those huge expansion joints on the bridges!
If I'm healthy I hope to be there.

I don't know about where you live but the weather has been pretty sucky here thus far and we have had quite a few icy days that made running quite treacherous and unfortunately I don't have access to a treadmill for such days so the cheap solution is the "screw shoe".
